Honda Marine Returns Policy

It is important to us that you are completely satisfied with your online purchase, if that is not the case please return your item to the Honda Marine you purchased from, and we will be happy to issue a refund or exchange. The following conditions apply:

All purchases made are subject to the below and our usual terms of trade unless expressly stated otherwise below.

 

YOUR RIGHTS UNDER THE CONSUMER GUARANTEES ACT

 

  • Guarantees for Goods: We strive to provide products that are of acceptable quality under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 (“CGA”).
  • Remedies for Non-Compliance with CGA: If products fail to comply with a guarantee, you are entitled to a remedy. The type of remedy depends on whether the failure can be fixed or not.
  • If the failure can be remedied: We will remedy the failure within a reasonable time by either repairing the products, replacing the products with an identical type, or providing a full refund (the method of remedying the failure is at our discretion). We may elect to return the product to the manufacturer or an agent to determine the nature of the problem. 
  • If the failure cannot be remedied or is of a "substantial character":You have the right to reject the products and choose a full refund or a replacement.

 

A failure is of a "substantial character" if, for example, the products are significantly different from their description, substantially unfit for their usual purpose, or are unsafe.

  • Faults Caused by a Consumer: The CGA guarantees do not apply if products are damaged after delivery for reasons not related to their state at the time of supply, such as misuse or neglect. We reserve the right not to offer a repair, replacement, or refund where an item's fault is the result of misuse, neglect, or abnormal use.

 

HONDA MARINE ONLINE RETURNS POLICY

Honda Marine happily accept returns or exchanges within 14 days of purchase. For a change-of-mind return, the following conditions apply:

 

  • You must provide proof of purchase (e.g. invoice or order confirmation);
  • Your item must be returned unused and in the same condition that you received it;
  • No fuel or oil must have been put into any engine or tool; and
  • It must also be in the original, unopened, and undamaged packaging.

 

  • We reserve the right to assess the condition of returned products prior to providing an exchange or refund.

 

  • We cannot and will not offer a change-of-mind refund or exchange on:

 

  • Custom-made or specially ordered products.
  • Any product that has had fuel or oil added.
  • Gift cards.

 

RETURNS PROCESS

 

  • Where do I Return the Product: All returns are made at your expense to the store you originally purchased from (meaning the store you selected on our online portal before or during checkout). You can return your purchase in person or via courier to that store. Please provide the accompanying invoice or order confirmation as proof of purchase.
  • Returning/Exchanging Items to a Different Store: Our stores are all independently owned by local owners, so we request you make any returns or exchanges to the store you selected online. However, if this is not possible our store staff can accept your return, and the refund will be processed by our central customer service team. This will be done on the next working day, and it could take 2-3 days to be visible on your card. You will be given paperwork as proof of your return which will be authorised by the store staff.

 

  • Return Shipping Costs:

 

  • Change-of-mind returns: You are responsible for any costs incurred in returning the product to the store. Your shipping costs will not be refunded.
  • Returns under the CGA: If a product is found to be faulty, does not meet acceptable quality, or does not meet its description, your reasonable shipping costs will be refunded. Please retain receipts for any shipping expenses.

 

  • Proof of Purchase We require proof of purchase for all returns. The best proof is the original sales receipt or invoice. Other forms, such as a bank statement or loyalty card record, may be accepted for CGA claims. For 'change of mind' returns, the original receipt is required.

 

  • Returns without Proof of Purchase In circumstances where you cannot provide adequate proof of purchase, we may, at our discretion, still be able to offer an exchange or store credit at our discretion. To do so, we will need to record your personal details from an acceptable form of photo identification. This information is collected for fraud prevention purposes only. Acceptable forms of ID include:
  • New Zealand Driver’s Licence
  • Any current Passport

 

REFUNDS AND OTHER INFORMATION

  • Method of Refund: You will receive your refund by the same method of payment that your purchase was made. No cash (dollar notes or coins) refunds will be provided unless you made the purchase in cash (dollar notes or coins). If the original payment method cannot be verified (e.g., the card has been replaced), the refund will be processed to at our discretion to an alternative, verifiable account.

 

  • Click & Collect Items: Unless you expressly instruct us not to in writing, we assemble any tools prior to collection when you select Click & Collect (Collect from a Store. We will accept machines that have been assembled by store staff as a return.

 Stock Availability: You understand and agree that stock availability shown online may not always be correct. While every effort is made to ensure the stock count is displayed correctly, errors can occur especially when stock numbers are sourced from several suppliers.

 

  • Order Cancellation by Honda Marine: We reserve the right to cancel any order if the product is listed at an incorrect price, is out of stock, or for any other similar reasons. Notifications of order cancellation will be done via the store from which the product(s) were purchased. We are not liable for any indirect or consequential liability or issues arising from the said cancellation. Our liability in such cases is strictly limited to the refund of the amount paid for the cancelled order.

 

  • In-Store Purchase Refund Policy Differs: If you choose to make your purchase in-store please note the in-store refund process and policy may be different from the Online Refund Policy, particularly regarding change-of-mind returns.

 

  • Prices Shown Online Compared to Stores: Prices shown are recommended retail prices (RRP) only. An individual Honda Marine Retailer's prices may be lower than these recommended prices. Visit your local Honda Marine store, for further details.

 

  • Gift Cards and Vouchers

 

  • Gift cards are not redeemable for cash and cannot be returned for a change-of-mind.
  • If you return a product purchased with a gift card that meets our returns criteria, any refund owing will be issued as a new gift card or store credit.
  • Honda Marine is not responsible for and is unable to replace lost or stolen gift cards.

 

  • Privacy and Information Collection To facilitate a return, we may ask for information that is relevant to the transaction or to satisfy legislative requirements. When processing returns, particularly without proof of purchase, we may ask to see and record your personal details from a valid ID. This information is collected for the lawful purpose of processing returns and preventing fraud and will be managed in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020.You have the right to access and request correction of your personal information by contacting our Customer Service team.

 

BUSINESS CUSTOMERS

 

  • Contracting Out of the CGA: If you are acquiring, or hold yourself out as acquiring, the purchases in trade for the purposes of a "business" (as defined by the CGA), you agree that:

 

  • the provisions of the CGA do not apply; and
  • it is fair and reasonable that the parties are bound by this provision.

 

  • Contracting Out of the Fair Trading Act 1986: For business to business transactions, you agree that to the extent permitted by law, sections 9, 12A, 13, and 14(1) of the Fair Trading Act 1986 do not apply. It is fair and reasonable that the parties are bound by this provision.
